Abstract

|
This. is a report of three cases of diospyrobezoar in the stomach which is not ball or mass as had been reported previously. All of these followed ingestion f unripe persimmon prior to development of the symptoms. Gastroscopically, the. bezoars of a waxy or cheese like material were coating over the entire gastric mucosa.
On barium meal examination, X-ray findings of our cases mimicked the stomach with a mixture of barium meal ¢¥and recently ingested food- materials, and showed multiple honeycomb radiolucent densities in the stomach.,
In two cases (case I & II) the bezoars disappeared after gastroscopic removal and repeated gastric lavage. The other case (case II ) disappeared, spontaneously after taking a large amount of sodium bicarbonate.
A brief review of the literature is submitted.
